This year we collaborated with Rotary Groningen Centrum on the first edition of Muziek op Gekke Plekker, where 150 people listened to musical performance in 4 special locations in Groningen. As a part of the project we also organized a lottery with some amazing prizes. The aim of the project was to raise funds for sanitary wear for the girls and women in the province of Groningen who cannot afford them. Together we managed to raise incredible 9400€. We look forward to the next year's edition!
Every year we organise the "Reizen door Wonderland" event. Aimed at kids, we set up stalls from our home countries where kids can learn about our different cultures, typical food and play typical games. They even get a paper passport where they can collect stamps from every country they travelled to that day with us.
For a few years now, we made paper flowers from scratch for women at an elderly home. They were very well received but the men were jealous, so we created a Beer & Bingo event for men's day. Both events are now becoming annual projects and we enjoy seeing the joy on the elderly people's faces.
One of our more recent projects of showing the children of groningen the cultures of different countries.

In collabration with Rotaract The Hague International,
please join us in our Move-a-thon as we raise money for Stichting Local Care, a non-profit helping Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine. All you have to do is track your exercise minutes over 10 weeks and ask your friends and family to donate based on how many active minutes you accumulate. 🇺🇦🏋🏾♂️💶
What is the Local Care foundation?
The Local Care foundation created aid projects in Eastern-Europe, such as Romania, Bosnie-Herzegovina, Moldova, Albania and Ukraine. This project focuses on raising money for those in need in the current worrisome situation in Ukraine by also promoting a healthier lifestyle. 💌👩🏻🤝👨🏽
Remember, small scale support helps us reach a big scale success! Every donation will be spent on helping Ukraine, so join us in our project and let’s change their tomorrow. 🇺🇦🏊🏼♀️🏃🏽♀️⛹🏻♀️🇺🇦
In recent times, families have significantly less travel due to the pandemic, which has also meant that children come into contact with other cultures less than they would have been able to under “normal” circumstances.
In collaboration with the Groningen Forum, Rotaract Groningen International is organizing an interactive afternoon in the Forum where children (around the age of 8) can go with their parents to give the children a taste of different cultures through interaction with students from different countries.
Our club collaborated with kerst050 to help them pack Christmas packages for the underprivileged families.
It was a great learning opportunity at the same time a great satisfaction of helping and spreading kindness.
World Cleanup Day 2021🗑
Let’s take part to make a change!🙌🏻
Our club is partnering up with Delfzijl Cleanup to go clean the Groningen Seaport 🌎🧹
We will go together on the 18th September in the morning direction to Delfzijl and make a fun day out of it! Everyone from all ages is welcome, and no need to be part of Rotaract but would like to make a change! ✨
Talks with experts about anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention.
Throughout the last year, probably most of us had moments when we didn’t feel like ourselves. For some people, it’s just a short phase, but for many of us it’s a day-to-day struggle.
Unfortunately, mental health is still a taboo topic to talk about. That’s why Rotaract Groningen International together with Arouba Kabir (India), Annelien Beens (NL) and Yasmijn Oldenbeuving (NL) brought together a webinar about anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention.
These three experts will spoke about:
ways to recognize and deal with anxiety;
how to put our feelings down on paper (material required: colored pencils and paper)
the main symptoms of depression;
the factors that play a role in developing and prolonging depression;
facts and myths about suicidality;
recognizing suicidal tendencies;
how you can approach having a conversation about suicide.
The webinar took place on 15th May, from 14:00 till 16:40.
On these dates, our live cooking and cultural exchange live sessions will take place. Each session is with a different country, with a different time-zone. So, each week we will announce the country and the time which these sessions will take place. Additionally, the ingredients of the meal to be cooked will be posted, for anyone who wants to cook along!
The concept is to bring Rotaract clubs from around the world to cook a meal while having a cultural exchange. Every two weeks, live sessions will take place, with Rotaract clubs in several countries live on our Instagram. You’ll have the opportunity to cook a mean along, while getting to know other Rotaract clubs around the world.
We believe, food brings cultures together!
It has been a stressful period for everyone the past months. Therefore, we organised an event to practice yoga and mindfulness together online on Saturday the 19th of December at 11 o'clock AM. We hosted the session with the support of lovely Daylight Coaching. The session was live on our Instagram page. 🍃
There was the opportunity to donate money for Stichting Ixta Noa that we supported! Their organisation works with people with psychological vulnerability.
In connection with World Rotaract Week 2020, we organised a clothing collection.
A chance to celebrate the importance of Rotaract, and an opportunity to get involved for a good cause!
The collection ended with over 15 big bags of clothing that was donated to the Salvation Army.
We hosted the onlinge yoga session with the support of lovely Daylight Coaching. The session was live on our Instagram page.
There was the opportunity to donate money for the local animal shelter.
In June 2019 Rotaract and Rotary clubs around the world sailed together to raise funds for a good cause. That year the funds raised went for the purpose of buying three houses for the most economically disadvantaged families in Požarevac, Serbia.
